Pottery-Korean Traditional Handicrafts
Pottery - Korean Traditional Handicrafts | The Spirit of Korean Cultural Roots
Korean Pottery can be largely divided into two categories : unglazed and glazed. Unglazed pottery includes earthenware with appliqué decoration and comb-patterned earthenware from the Neolithic Age, plain earthenware from the Bronze Age , grey stoneware from the Three Kingdoms period, grey earthenware from the Goryeo and Joseon dynasties, and dark brown pottery jars from modern times called puredok .Glazed pottery started with the green glazed and black glazed stoneware from the 9th century Silla kiln site at Gurim-ri and continues today in onggi, widely used dark brown glazed jars for storing food. Pottery vessels , both glazed and unglazed , have been used from prehistoric times to the present , and regardless of class or region they are the vessels that have been most widely used in the daily lives of koreans
